“A fennec fox,” Sebastian corrects pointedly, ignoring the eye roll that accompanies his words. The pet discussion has been on the table for weeks now and so far they’ve been unable to get anywhere close to reaching a compromise that they’re both happy with. Sebastian’s latest addition to the discussion is the introduction of the fennec fox.

“But why?” Kurt asks exasperated.

Sebastian shrugs. “You said you wanted a cat, I said no. This is my offer.”

Pre-Kurtbastian. Kurt gets a boyfriend, Sebastian reacts poorly.

Sebastian couldn’t work out at the time why something inside him sunk when Kurt said, “I’ve met this guy”. It was only a slight sensation that he quickly forget in the ensuing excited (well, Kurt was excited, Sebastian was studiously apathetic) conversation. He didn’t even think about it again until Kurt mentioned his first date with Nico - who was an accounting student and tap dancer - a week later. He got the same slight drop in his stomach, even as he listened and made his token snide comments.

He and Kurt were doing Urban Rome in Antiquity together this semester. The lectures were too early on a Tuesday morning, and then afterwards Kurt had to literally run to his Marketing class across campus. They had shared two subjects together last year. Kurt and Sebastian had built a friendship that revolved around congratulating each other on getting out of Ohio, checking out hot New York men, and helping each other not fail their classes through intense motivation. This motivation generally entailed panicked late night phone calls and coffee.
